In Hong Kong, 55 leather companies from Brazil will be at the APLF fair

The last time that the APLF Leather fair – the largest in the leather sector – took place in its traditional venue, Hong Kong, was in 2019. This five-year gap gives an idea of the great expectations about its return soon, between the 19th and March 21st. Brazilian leather will be at APLF with 55 participating companies with the support of the Brazilian Leather project, carried out by the partnership between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

In Hong Kong, APLF covers the entire local and Chinese demand market, which together are the main importer of leather from Brazil, with a 31.5% share of the total exported in 2023. The fair also has the power to bring together large buyers from other predominant spaces in the leather industry, such as Europe and the United States. In addition to Brazilians, other nations will have collective spaces at APLF: Italy, France, Australia and Turkey are some of the countries with exclusive pavilions at the fair.

Due to its importance, the event has official meetings and activities on the leather industry's annual calendar, in addition to the commercial platform. The CICB will participate in the executive meeting and the Board meeting of the International Council of Tanners (the sector's global entity), where important issues on international regulations will be discussed. The Brazilian entity's agenda will also include a preparatory presentation for national companies exhibiting at APLF, sharing strategic market data, with the participation of a representative from the Chinese leather industry association.

During the fair, in addition to the 55 Brazilian companies exhibiting at APLF, the Brazilian sector will be represented at the Brazilian Leather project stand. The space will have materials to promote the national industry and will feature the Leather Preview exhibition (Preview do Couro), with skins specially developed by several tanneries in the country. It is an initiative that multiplies Brazil's representation in Hong Kong and should bring results throughout 2024.
